Arkle

Arkle is a magical mountain towering above Loch Stack in the far north. For a relatively small mountain, it packs a lot in. The impressive rocky slopes and exciting ridges of the mountains pop out of the bleak Sutherland bogs. It really is fairytail territory!

We'll walk in from Achfary before ascending the slopes of Arkle. The first top reached isn't the top. The summit lies at the far end of a narrow and rocky ridge. This will require some simple scrambling. The return route is back the way we came so we get to cross the ridge twice!
